We get to play at the markets (for free) every second month. They apparently have the steam sawmill running right next to the park where they run the markets. That apparently happens also on the first Sunday of every second month so we go in between.
The first week of winter was a little bit unpleasant temperature wise and a couple of days earlier we were also favoured with a cold and gusty westerly wind. They are not unusual for this time of the year but we were pleased that they had subsided by Sunday.
Even so, when we got up on Sunday morning at about 6:30 the temperature was around 5C and even lower on our front patio so we did not have breakfast out there as we do most other days.
We take the trailer each time we play at the markets because we take the gazebo otherwise I would be sitting in the direct sunlight for three hours. Without the gazebo, everything we need will fit in the car but the gazebo won’t so we need to take the trailer. I normally load the trailer up the day prior and hook it up to the car in the morning.
It makes things a little bit difficult with the trailer because I have to back in and while I have managed to get to where we needed to be, it can be a little nerve wracking with people sitting on the verandah next door and watching. However we got in and started setting up by 8am. We can’t erect the gazebo by out selves but there is usually someone around to give us a helping hand.
We were set up and ready to go by 8:30 and fortunately the sun had warmed things up considerably. I usually play three 45 minute sets starting at 8:30 and finishing at around 11:30. You can see in the image above my yellow water bottle lying on the ground (where it shouldn’t have been). I was pleased to have it there since I have still feeling the after effects of the cold I had a month ago. But I made it though alright.
Then it was pack up time, load up the trailer and make it home for lunch.
