The Ukuleles usually go to Gunther on the first Thursday of the month to play for the residents who like to come out and have a singalong from about 6:30 to close to 8:00. This month it was only me at the Uke making a noise and Lorraine at the computer making sure the lyrics are displayed on the screen.

It was a couple of months since we had been there because the previous month I had a cold and though it better that I didn’t go to Gunther with the possibility of sharing it with others who did not really need it.

The wind did not particularly worry us inside the building but both us and the patients travel through open hall ways which made it a little uncomfortable for some.
The way it all works is like this. Prior to the night I put together a set list of songs I think residents will enjoy singing and share it with the other UKE members. We then put together the same set list but with lyrics only so they can be projected for the audience to read and follow along. This visit we played and sang over forty songs in the close to ninety minutes. That seems a lot but I checked the set list and that was the case. So Lorraine looks after the lyrics set list projection and the Uke players look after the Uke playing. Unfortunately I was the only one there this night because others were either sick of away travelling.

It is interesting that we have had the screen and projector for at least ten years. We originally made it for use in the caravan when we had it. The screen consists of white ??? material and its frame is plastic water tubing that can be pulled apart to be stored without taking much room in the caravan. If you look closely you can se the small projector that site on a stand and produces enough light to create a good site on the screen.
