As Christmas approaches as does our time to leave Gayndah to travel to Canberra and Adelaide, decorating a Christmas cake or two becomes a necessity. Grand daughter Imogen came down to our house today to work on decorating the cakes with Grandma.
Rather than bake the cakes, Lorraine buys a couple of Lion’s Christmas cakes. It is an annual tradition for Lions Clubs across the country to sell cakes as a fund raiser. They are good tasting cakes and are well worth purchasing generally through local businesses who provide the service as a help to Lions Clubs.

Both Imogen and Lorraine enjoy the experience of making the cake look like a Christmas cake and so they get into it. Two cakes were decorated this year. One for Imogen and her extended family in Bundaberg for Christmas and one for us to take to Canberra and Adelaide.

The reason that one cake has only “XMAS” in lettering and the other has “MERRY CHRISTMAS” was because they ran out of letters and being Gayndah, that is not something you can go down town and pruchase some more. And a quick trip over to Bundy might seem a bit extreem.
