After selling the bigger tools I had in the work room, we decided to purchase a couple of security cameras. Since we already had a Ring Door camera, we decided to go with the same company and bought two cameras that could be connected directly to the internet and were POE, that is they are powered over the ethernet. That meant that I did not have to run electricity to the cameras but power them via the CAT 6 cable that connects them to the internet.
Both cameras required that I climb a ladder. The camera at the front of the house was not too much of a problem because it was not too high. However it made up for it by requiring I crawl under the house to run the CAT 6 cable to the internet router.
Installing the camera at the back required climbing up a little higher which I probably shouldn’t do. However I managed to climb up, and down, enough times to get the cable where it should and the camera secured to the building. Cable had to be run inside the shed and that was a little less easy given that the roller door was in the way. In the image above I am removing the old camera that had been there for years and alsmost never worked.
