Last night we went out to what was advertised as a rock n roll night at the Coalstoun Lakes (population 99 according to the 2021 census) Memorial Hall which is about a 30 minute drive from Gayndah, towards the township of Biggenden and further on to Bundaberg. It seemed like a good idea following on my rock n roll night at Gunther on Fridy night.
We took with us Noah and Sophie. Sophie had been in Gayndah for the day and her parents own and operate the Homegrown Store and Cafe which is situated in Coalstoun Lakes across the road from the Hall. Since she needed a ride home and we were going that way, it made sense that we took her. And it made even more sense to Noah that he come to.

The show got under way at 7pm and as the saying goes, or our version of it, Elvis was in the building, but hiding out the back somewhere. When introduced, he strode on to stage, set his backing track going and broke into song. He was greatly enjoyed by the audience mostly consisting of baby boomers like us.
There was probably a total of sixty people in the audience and it seemed like they were all, or mostly all locals. As well as entertainment, they also offered the usual raffles, a dancing competition, food and drinks. Noah and Sophie partook of some of the food.

We sat with Edith and her husband. Edith is a members of GAPPS, she plays the ukulele. She and her husband are cattle farmers, quite amazing for a couple in their eighties. Our local version of Elvis lives somewhere near Edith and her husband so he was pleased to see her there.

We stuck it out till about 9pm. We weren’t the only ones leaving at that time. The locals vere very friendly and during the evening, one of the organisers moved around the audience asking if we were enjoying the show. I said I was, but lied. I was impressed though by the fact that Elvis knew the words all the songs he sang, probably upwards of thirty while we were there.
