Noah Coulson Gets a Prize

Posted on September 20, 2025September 20, 2025 by Geoff

It seems that the competition run by Basketball Bundaberg corresponds with the school semesters as run in Queensland. So the final of this season’s basket ball round for the Premier Boys Winter Season was held last night (Friday 19th Septemver 2025). Following last weeks game (the semi-final), we were advised that the finals would be on Saturday 20th and it wasn’t until Thursday 18th that Noah received a message advising the the finals were to be held on Friday.

This required some changes. Originally with a Saturday night game, Michael (Dad) wasn’t able to go because he had a prior committment with Gayndah football club’s end of year celebrations. Lorraine and I could go because our committment with Gunther was on Friday night. As it all ended up, Michael and their whole family went and Lorraine went with them. Their car is a seven seater so it really worked to take only one vehicle.

I stayed back in Gayndah and did the Gunther rock n roll night by myself. The residents were not too concerned about not having the lyrics displayed. I also looked after Charlie who stayed here until his family arrived back in Gayndah at midnight.

I am told that it was an interesting game with the score see-sawing between the teams. This is what it looked like at the end, with Noah’s team with the higher score.

Noah thinks he scored about 14 of those points.

The win tonight means Noah’s team won the competition in the Premier Boys, Winter Season. They were all clearly very pleased about that.

As well as all the team being pleased for winning the competition, they were also pleased tht one of their own was named as the “2025 Winter Season Premier Boys Most Valuable Player” and that happened to be Noah Coulson. That award, we are told, is voted on by the referees.

It has taken a little while for Noah to find a sport that he enjoys, having tried out for swimming, athletics, rugby league and tennis, none of which seemed to click with him. Basketball has, and given the fact that he lives in rural Gayndah, has no one to train him and has to travel two hours each way to play a game, being awarded that recognition is rather significant. As Noah is reported to have said on the way back to Gayndah, “At last I get a prize for a sport I enjoy”

Congratulations Noah.
