Adelaide to Gayndah – Day 3

Posted on January 20, 2026January 27, 2026 by Geoff

Left Cobar at 7am with 100% SOC. The car took almost all night to fully charge on the 15amp outlet that the caravans use. Our first stop was Nyngan which is quite a pleasant small town. While charging we had a look around not only at the shops but also the historical displays they have well presented.

Next it was on to Gilgandra which was also a pleasant country town and provided us with the DC charge we needed. Narrabri was next on the list. We have stopped here several times in the past so knew the area well. We lined up to have our lunch here while we charged. It didn’t work out that way because there was a Tesla vehicle which just beat us there. First of all the drivers didn’t know how to work the charger and had to phone up support to make it work for them.

They charged right to 100% while they went away and had lunch at a near by Chinese restaurant. I tried to explain to them that they would be much better off (faster for them because the Tesla chargers charge twice as fast as the one at Narrabri) driving down the road to the Tesla chargers at Dubbo. They were traveling south and had enough charge to do that but chose not to. So we waited for them to charge and for ours to charge as well.

This meant that we were some what later ending the day in Goondiwindi that we planned. So we changed plans and over nighted in Moree. As it was, we pulled into the Moree Tourist Park ten minutes prior to the park closing.
