We had no problem leaving Broken Hill at 7am on Thursday January 15. Wilcannia was our next stop and that was about 250ks drive. PlugShare advised that both the charge points at Wilcannia were available and the they had a PlugScore of 10.0. So we were happy to travel along the desert road to that town.
It wasn’t quite as agreeable when we arrived because one of the chargers was taken up by a brand new Mini Cooper and initially the other charger would communicate with our car. I tried re-plugging several times and had some success. Initially it charged only very slowly but things settled sown and we were able to get a full charge to 100% SOC.
Our next stop was Cobar and while we didn’t plan for it to be the last stop of the day, it turned out to be so. PlugShare let us know that the charger there was not working and they planned that a technician would be there that day to fix it. It didn’t happen so we had to stop in Cobar overnight. We weren’t too worried about that because we had traveled over 500ks by the time we arrived in Cobar.
While waiting in Wilcannia, we phoned the Cobar Caravan park and booked a cabin for the night and the opportunity to plug the car into a 15am caravan outlet. They charged us $40 extra for that, a bit steep but at least we had 100% SOC in the morning to continue.
