Monday 29th seemed a good day to go out to the Gold Greek area with the special intent of visiting the Walk in Bird Aviary. While some other venues around Canberra were closed for the week between Christmas and New Years, this one at Gold Greek was open. It was very pleasant except for one thing, many of birds were not real hungry, probably because there were lots of visitors trying to feed them.
Upon paying the $20 entry fee, each entrant is provided with a slice of apple for the parrots and a container of food for the decorative chooks. The container had what looked like fine sawdust in which were secreted a number of small live worms. The chooks and their chicks certainly knew what to do when the container was held near them. They were still hungry probably because the visitors seemed more interested in feeding the parrots with apple rather than feeding the chooks and their chickens with worms.

We had lunch at a cafe at Gold Creek and then came home and rested for the evening excursion to The Burns Club. For the uninitiated, the Burns Club is a self serve, all you can eat, buffet. And very pleasant it is too.
The Club clearly has it all down to a fine art, providing food for hundreds of patrons the night we were there. Not sure if it is like that every night but it all worked well for us as well as the large number of other patron present.
