We visited Canberra’s National Arboretum yesterday. Its history is interesting in that it is built in an area (250 hectares) that was devastated by the 2003 bush fire event. It has many rare and endangered trees. An arboretum is a “botanical garden devoted to growing trees for conversation, scientific research or educational purposes . . . The National Arboretum Canberra is the only monocultural (single species forests) of its size in the world.”
