November Markets

Posted on November 4, 2025November 12, 2025 by Geoff

We had the opportunity to provide some music for the Gayndah Markets held on the first Sunday of each month. Despite it being very hot and humid, I woke up early on Sunday morning and loaded up the trailer to take what we need for our morning at the markets. We use the trailer because we have to take our gazebo plus some chairs in case the UKE members turn up to play for an hour or so. That stuff doesn’t fit in the car.

We left home not too long after 7am and on arriving, had to back the car with the trailer into a position which allowed us to unload the equipment and also be able to leave should we decide to pack up earlier than others. That was a little difficult for me especially with a group of men sitting on the verandah of the house next door and able to watch everything right and wrong that I was doing.

I managed to get all in place and only jack knifed the trailer once. The first thing to do was get the gazebo in place. That was easier said than done considering there was only Lorraine and I to do it. And never having done it by ourselves before, we ended up needing help.

A young man from one of the other places came and helped. He obviously knew what he was doing and we had it in place in short order. As I mentioned it was hot and humid and setting up the gear for performing caused the sweat to appear. We got it all going, well almost going. I am trying to get rid of as many leads as possible and use wireless where ever possible.

It turned out that I had too much wireless stuff happening so I decided to get rid of the bluetooth between the iPad and the PA and use wire for that connection. Eventually it all worked and we got through the morning. I started playing at just after 8am and finished at 11.15. It was too hot to do any more. So we packed up (with help for the gazebo) and were able to leave the park even though others were still set up.
