Our New Year’s Eve started with a morning trip to Belconnen Shopping Centre. We have to visit each shopping centre each year and we couldn’t miss that one. We spent a bit more money and purchased an induction hob. We had a look around at the shops which may have had one and Harvey Norman seemed to be the deal for us so we purchased a Telfal Dual Express Induction Hob which we feel should cover most of our needs at home. We won’t have to buy gas and will use free electricity from our solar panels and Tesla Battery. Hope it all works.
The afternoon was spent in restful preparation for the evening by the lake. There was a little concern because we had a storm at about 4pm and it seemed to hang around for a while. But by the time it was time to go at 6.30, it had cleared up enough to make the trip without getting wet. Dax and Selena have a fold up trolley which was fortunate because the stuff we needed for the time at lake was relatively bulky and we were able to fit it all in the trolley (as you can see from the photo above).
Setting up by the side of the lake was a rather simple affair, thought not assisted by the wind. Our neighbours brought what looked like half of their Christmas decorations with them. They seemed to enjoy themselves.

I was very pleased that I purchased a pair of jeans from K Mart during our visit to Belconnen in the morning. I did not bring a pair of long pants with us. Neither did I bring a sweater of any kind. I had also purchased a warm shirt a couple of days ago and at the last minute before leaving for the fireworks, I changed into them. I was pleased I did because it was a very cold wind we sat in.
The fire works started at exactly 9pm – on the dot. I think there were five barges on the lake and they all started exactly together so I guess they were all connected electronically. Very impressive all round. It was a fifteen minute show and then it was time to pack up and leave. We had the same difficulty getting out of the parking lot as we had last year but we made it home by about 10.30pm.
