For some time now, we have suggested to Noah that it would be good to go out to Coalstoun Lakes for lunch. After going out last weekend to the Elvis show in the hall out there, Noah called this morning to say that today would be a good day to make it out there for lunch. As well, there was another attraction, Sophie was working in the cafe which, by the way is owened by her parents, and he was keen to surprise her because he had not told her we were coming out.
So at about midday, we went down to pick Imogen and Noah up for the thirty minute trip out to our lunch at Coalstoun Lakes, population ninety-nine according to the 2021 census. Sophie was working and was very surprised to see us all. The cafe is actually on the main road between Childers and the Burnett Highway which leads to Gayndah. So they do not totally depend on locals for their custom.

We all ordered and followed Noah’s order for sour dough sandwiches which tasted really good. Imogen ordered chips which also tasted really good. We decided to sit outside and were pleased to be served by Sophie. All in all, it was a pleasant way to have lunch on a Saturday afternoon.
