Gayndah Garden Club, September 2025

Posted on September 17, 2025September 17, 2025 by Lorraine Walden

The food shared by the group members is placed on a table in the middle of the room and is eaten as required. The club meeting consists mostly of discussions about gardening and sharing ideas. I took some fruit from our canistel tree for members to try. All the pieces went so I had an empty tray to bring home.

After the quiz it is traditional for us to go for a wander around the host’s garden. As you can see from the images, Esme and John spend lots of time in their garden. For me, the highlite of their garden was the many colors and John talking about all of the flowers and plants.

The Gayndah Garden Club meets on the third Wednesday of each month and usually attracts up to a dozen keen gardeners, mostly women but sometimes a male or two turn up. The meeting occurs at a different members place each month. It is tradidtion for the host to supply tea and coffee and everybody takes a plate to share.

After we have had our coffee, Edith distributes a quiz on gardening that she get from we don’t really know where. But it creates a little gardening interest. Most people fail to answer all of the questions correctly but Edith makes sure we know the correct answers by the end of the quiz session. Chaille often answers many of the questions correctly.
