We went shopping one day before and after Christmas Day. Not something we have done in the past so it was interesting to see that almost everyone in Canberra thought the same.
Dax and Selena had to work until midday on Christmas Eve and they wanted to do some shopping after they finished work to buy food for Christmas lunch. Costco was the place to do that so we agreed to meet them in front of Canberra’s Costco at 12.30. We had to rely on Apple Maps to get us there and it was a thirty minute drive. There were lots of people lining up to get petrol and we drove around until we found a parking stop.
We took our fridge so chat the food that needed to be kept cold could be put straight into the fridge. We went into the shop and collected what was needed. There were lots of people there but we made our way through. After finishing at Costco, we went across the road to Woolworths and completed our shopping adventure for Christmas Eve.

The Boxing Day Sales received plenty of promotion on TV during Christmas Day so, never having gone to a post Christmas sale, we decided to try it out.

As you can see from the image above, we made it to Canberra Outlet which was quite an experience. It was totally packed out and cars line up a block back to get a park. Dax drove in via a different entry which saved us having to cross a line of traffic and allowed us to drive almost straight into the car park. Next thing was finding a park. We had to drive to the far end of the car park to find a space.

I did plan getting a new pair of Sketchers even prior to coming down but wasn’t keen on paying $200 for them as the shop at Maroochydore wanted to charge. I managed to get then for $130 at the Boxing Day sale. I also bought some discounted shirts at Connors. Lorraine bought a sweater and some pyjamas from Harris Scarf.
Selena was keen to purchase a TV for her work room so she could use her new switch in the room so J B Hifi was the logical place to make that purchase. That shop was also very packed.

It was really interesting to see the number of people lined up outside the Nike store to make use of their 40% off for Boxing Day sale. Apparently they don’t have sales at any other time of the year. They had security at the door controlling the number of people in the store. There would have been a couple of hundred people lined up.

When we got up this morning the temperature in Theodore/Canberra was 7C and and was forecast to get up to 21C during the day. So it was a little cool all day, much like our winter in Gayndah. Early in the morning we received some photos from Lily, showing some of their experiences on day 1 in Reykjavik, Iceland. I checked up the temperature there at the same time and it was 8C and forecast to get to 9C during the day with 70% chance of rain.
